Vision Clinic Day in Haiti

On this first day of the week the GAiN mission team headed for the mountain community of Fond Cheval to conduct our first vision clinic. This is the same site we worked at two weeks ago to conduct a water filter distribution. It was a great day. We saw 112 people in the clinic and 8 asked Christ into their lives for the first time. The clinic was conducted under a large tree in front of a small church. It was a beautiful location and about 10 degrees cooler than Port-au-Prince. We are so grateful for what God did through our team today. Here are the sights.

Sandy conducting an interview and sharing Christ
Jennifer and Joyce checking distance vision
People standing patiently in line
Using the gospel bead bracelet to share Christ
A young mom getting her vision checked
Jennifer using the focometer to check vision
Cheryl and an elderly lady who received a strong pair of glasses
A group of men with their new glasses
Kids are always cute, especially with new sunglasses
Our driver for the day
Harlen building a pair of distance glasses
Andrew always draws a crowd of kids
Sandra conducting an interview
Harlen and Mary building glasses
Jennifer checking vision
Mary building glasses
Charlie did a great job of pointing
A new believer enters the kingdom
The church building on our clinic site
Did I mention that kids are cute?
We had a special experience today! A man came to the clinic who is totally blind. We felt bad to tell him that we could not help him with his physical vision. But then Linda asked him if Jesus was his personal savior. He said no. She then had the chance to share the good news with this dear man and he asked Christ into his life for the first time. So while we could not help him with his physical sight, he left with new spiritual sight. He will be joining us in heaven for eternity. This alone made the day a total joy. Thank you for your prayers.

Tomorrow we conduct our second vision clinic on the NVM compound. Then in the afternoon the ladies will be working with Cheryl with her ladies ministry and the men start building furniture for the ladies ministry. We will report in again tomorrow evening.

Serving on your behalf in Haiti,
Jim & Cheryl Warner
