The GAiN Mission Team arrives at NVM

The first GAiN team of 2013 has arrived on the NVM compound. They arrived today at the same time as two other teams that will be working at NVM. The GAiN team will be conducting vision clinics, working on projects and helping Cheryl with her ministry with Haitian ladies. It will be a full week. In the photo below the GAiN team has gray shirts and the other teams have blue shirts.

We have also been joined this week by Jay Shultz, his daughter Anna and their friend Chip. Chip is the current COO of NVM. During their visit they have joined Jim in the kitchen doing some cooking. Chip helped Jim flip pancakes and Jay produced some fabulous cinnamon rolls!

Please be praying for our ministry efforts this week. We will be posting throughout the week keeping you informed on what is happening. Thank you.

New Year's Eve in Haiti

Cheryl and I spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in Haiti. And we had many wonderful experiences. Here is a short video of shots taken at the New Year's Eve service at the NVM church. It is less than 2 minutes long and it is worth watching!!! They know how to celebrate.

May the Lord grant you all a blessed 2013. Let's all keep our eyes on him and be committed to spreading the word.

NVM's Christmas Carnival

Every year on Christmas Eve day, NVM opens up the compound to young people in the area. It is a great day of fun, food and laughter. Watch this short video to see the sights and hear the sounds of this great event.

We also had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration last night. I am working on that video now and will post it soon. Cheryl and I decided to stay in Haiti this year. And while we missed our family it was a great experience.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Cheryl and Jim.

It's Christmas in Haiti

Greetings,

Yesterday afternoon we celebrated Christmas with the staff of NVM. It was a great time.  We had amazing food (rice and beans included), spiritual challenges, we sang together, we laughed together, we played games and "you know who" even made a special appearance. And guess who played that role!! Ho Ho Ho!! Everyone had a great time. Cheryl worked hard making the evening festive and the Haitian cooking staff did themselves proud. Here are the sights and sounds of the gala event. We have included a short video and a number of photos.

The celebrating will continue next week. We will share more at that time.  We love and appreciate you all.

The week before Christmas in Haiti

Hi everyone,
It is the week before Christmas and we are busy preparing for the big day. Actually, Christmas starts tomorrow with the NVM staff party. We will have to post pictures because Jim is going to play “you know who!!”

In preparation for the big occasion, we have spent the day in the kitchen baking cookies and making the dining hall look festive. (Most of the credit goes to Cheryl)

NVM also is getting a Christmas gift today. One of our two generators was failing and the guys are installing the new one this afternoon.

It is such a joy to be a member of God’s family and to fully appreciate the meaning of Christmas. Let’s rejoice together that Jesus was willing to visit us and to give his life for our sins. May each of you experience God’s presence and joy during this wonderful season of the year.
