GAiN Haiti Mission Team–Monday

The GAiN Haiti mission team started their work week distributing 30 water filters in Onaville. This is the largest displacement camp in the country. 230,000 people live in tents and shacks after being driven from their homes by the 2010 earthquake. The team was a real blessing. They also gave presentations on hygiene, how to use the water filter systems and presented the gospel. It was a great morning.

After lunch the team was back on the NVM compound where they were involved in a variety of work projects. We are grateful for their willingness to get involved where needed.

GAiN Haiti team has a great Sunday

The GAiN Haiti mission team from Collin Creek Community Church in Dallas, Texas had a great Sunday. In the morning they had the chance to worship at Nehemiah Vision Chapel where they experienced a wonderful 3-hour worship and teaching service.

In the afternoon they were able to play games with some of the children and youth from the nearby community of Chambrun. Basketball, soccer and Frisbee were all on the agenda. They had a great time.

Tomorrow the team conducts their first water filter distribution in Onaville.  We will report in tomorrow evening on how the day went.  Please be in prayer for the team and for those to whom we minister.

The GAiN team from Collin Creek Community Church is in full swing

Once again we have a small but mighty team. There are seven folks from Collin Creek Community Church here on the NVM compound for the week. They will be involved in distributing water filter systems to families and general work projects on the compound.

Today we got off to a great start but were interrupted by a thunderstorm in the middle of the afternoon.

We started out our day with training on how to conduct the water filter distribution events and then put together 100 water filter systems.

Then after lunch we started on the main work project for the week. This past spring two earlier GAiN mission teams built a new kitchen for the Haitian cooks to prepare food for the 300 kids in the NVM school. Well, there is some final work to be done before it opens up. We need to seal the openings under the roof to prevent rain and leaves from coming into the kitchen. The team got a good start today before the rain began.

Tomorrow is church in the morning and playing with kids from Chambrun in the afternoon. Please pray for this team that they will have a great week and that many will be helped and drawn to the Lord. Thanks so much.  We will keep you posted.

NVM quarterly day of fasting and prayer

Today was special on the NVM compound. Four times each year Pastor Pierre brings the entire staff of NVM together for a day of fasting and prayer. It is a real blessing. We pray that God will protect us all and will energize our ministry and do His mighty work.

At the end of the service the entire staff walked around the compound and prayed over the buildings housing the various ministries. We prayed over living quarters, the hospital that is being built, the school, the clinic, the mission team compound, the children’s home that is being built, the office building and the warehouse.

Here is a short video glimpse into our service. It went on for 5 hours but was a true blessing.

Please pray for NVM. God is doing mighty things and we need your prayers that his Kingdom will come here just as it is in heaven,

We are back in Haiti and have a new Granddaughter

I know it has been some time since our last post. We have been in Dallas visiting family and friends. We were also there for the birth of our new granddaughter, Vivienne! She is a healthy and beautiful baby girl.

We are so proud of our daughter Shay and her husband Chris. And how could you not love a beautiful baby girl like Vivienne.

We will be more faithful in providing ministry reports from Haiti in the weeks to come. Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Beads, Beads, Glorious Beads - Donated to NVM through GAIN from Liz Manfredini

If you have been reading our blog you are aware that Cheryl has been teaching Haitian ladies jewelry making skills. The ladies are making beaded jewelry and baskets, and selling them at the Hope Gift Shop here on the mission team compound. These sales help to financially provide for their families! And supplies are required to keep this process moving forward. Well, we recently received a tremendous blessing!

A short time ago we lost a dear sister. Her name is Liz Manfredini. And Liz was a “beader.” She has now gone to be with the Lord. But before she left us, she told her husband Joe she wanted her beads donated to Haiti. ALL 400 POUNDS OF HER BEADS!! It goes without saying that this donation is a huge blessing to the ladies here in Haiti and will fuel their jewelry making efforts for a long time. 400 pounds is a lot of beads! And they are starting to make their way down here to Haiti – one suitcase at a time!

We are so grateful that God led Liz to make this donation. Countless families will be helped financially through the sale of beautiful jewelry made from the beads Liz and Joe have donated. We want to offer up our heartfelt thanks for this gift and we pray that it will be multiplied in the years to come. God is good. Even in life’s most difficult circumstances.
